When I travel, I am always on the look out for vintage postcards, ephemera, art of all kinds, and experiences that inspire. I also enjoy visually illustrating the highlights of the day in a pocket-size travel journal. For me, this is a colorful and meditative recap of my travel adventures.
In addition to my personal travel journals, I have three travel guides published on Guidrr, a mobile travel app. The first two take curious, artistic, inspiration-seekers through two of my favorite cities in the world: Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan. The third one takes travelers through the natural beauty of Asheville, NC. You can access my free travel guides and see a selection of my sketches below.
Tokyo, dear Tokyo. The amount of experiences in your mega-bustling city of 13.5 million takes my breath away. You keep me curious, hungry, and adventure-bound. You lead me from temple grounds to pachinko parlors, fine dining to fry shops, wide boulevards of designer boutiques to narrow lanes of beeping electronic stores, old castle grounds seeped in history to skyscrapers seeped in modernity, cat cafes to maid cafes, high fashion to youth fashion, and crowds of office workers to crowds of evening revelers. This free guide is for the seekers of art, inspiration and Japanese paper goods in the grand city that is Tokyo.
Fill your mixed-media art bag with treasure from the old Imperial Capital of Japan: vintage books & postcards, calligraphy brushes and ink stones, gorgeous hand-made fine papers, origami, washi tape, and a rubber-stamp with your name in Japanese. This free guide takes you through a walking tour of 7 stores to inspire your inner artist.
Yasmin’s unique shopping & walking experience in a local area in Kyoto made me want to buy a plane ticket and fly over there! I was inspired by Yasmin’s nomad, artistic approach to exploring places and her way of finding and capturing the local spots that match her own interests. — Aassia (@travelswithaasisa)
Nestled in North Carolina’s breathtaking Blue Ridge Ridge Mountains, Asheville is a small mountain town with a vibrant arts, micro-brewery and farm-to-table food culture. This free guide takes you through the historic downtown district and eateries, an afternoon at the Biltmore Estate, a stroll through the River Arts District and some stellar nature experiences.
We don’t know about you, but we’re always dreaming of weekend getaways. Yasmin’s artsy, foodie, walkable curated escape in Asheville hits the spot — The Guidrr Team
